Old photos…
These were taken by my significant other, about 2 days after I arrived in Japan. We were walking around and there was a neighborhood party happening, which involved hammering rice into a thick, sticky pulp. It is part of a new year traditional food I think. Anyway, I was invited to try both the process […]

New banner…
Hello, hope you like the new banner. the photo is real, and was taken by me on a plane back from Okayama to Tokyo at the weekend. Pretty, huh? Anyway, between working and painting, I will, of course be updating this when I can. For now, sit tight! Jon.

Earthquake…
At around quarter to 3 this afternoon, an area off the north-east coast of Japan was hit by a massive earthquake, and the resulting tsunami has caused devastation to the coastal city of Sendai, with aftershocks continually being felt over most of Japan. Tokyo’s phone and rail services are out of action, so I am […]

I am…
strangely enjoying building my ‘learn Japanese now, Jon’ spreadsheet…! I have a LOT still to do though. Maybe making Hiragana and Katakana playing cards can wait for a bit. Another beautiful day, Fuji-san was looking majestic this morning, I am looking forward to an outdoor foot spa and going for a wander around Izu at the weekend.
